15 senators dump APC for PDP Fifteen senators belonging to the ruling All Progressives Congress have said they were defecting to the opposition People's Democratic Party. The Senate President Bukola Saraki made the announcement during the plenary on Tuesday. Saraki is also rumoured to have concluded his defection plans from APC sometime this week, a move that would leave the leadership of the Senate in the hands of the PDP. The senators that defected include Barnabas Gemade(Benue), Shaaba Lafiaji(Kwara), Rafiu Ibrahim(Kwara), and Usman Nafada(Gombe). Others were Senators Suleiman Hunkuyi, Ibrahim Danbaba, Ubale Shittu, Isah Misau, Suleiman Nazif, Rafiu Ibrahim, Dino Melaye, Lanre Tejuosho.    How I escaped police siege – Saraki Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Tuesday gave the account of how security operatives laid siege to his house. Men of the Nigerian police early on Tuesday morning laid siege on the homes of Saraki and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu in Abuja. The move was said to prevent the duo from making it to the National Assembly today because of a plan by many lawmakers to decamp from Nigeria ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Saraki was, however, allowed to exit his residence thinking he was going to honour the police invitation. Saraki, appeared to the Senate chamber at about 10:40 a.m. and presided over the plenary while Ekweremadu did not make it to plenary and the siege on his home was still on as at noon. Poor power supply: We don’t need your service anymore, Sura market traders tell Eko DISCO Small and medium  enterprises  owners, under the aegis of Association of Shop Owners in Sura Business Complex, Lagos Island, have  expressed their desire to opt out of  the service of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC),  in  protest  against erratic power supply in the area. The aggrieved business owners, led by their Chairman, Mrs. Bunmi Ajayi, said  they were tired of poor electricity supply  and crazy bills forced on them by EKEDC. “ We are small business people and electricity is crucial to our businesses .
